The path is design, local AHJ permit, install, local inspection, TECO application, TECO inspection, and the signed Interconnection Agreement. TECO notes many installs take about 1-3 days on site; tile, electrical, and battery work can take longer.
Why battery-first changes the story
The battery and hybrid inverter manage the home, grid connection, and backup; solar is the daytime fuel that runs loads and recharges storage. A customer-owned battery subsystem of 1 kW or more generally needs a separate battery agreement plus the solar tier agreement, or TECO combo solar-and-battery application. That can mean battery manuals, insurance documents, and a fuller single-line diagram.
TECO interconnection costs for homes: tiers and daily charge
TECO rates system size in AC kilowatts. For typical residential interconnection applications, PowerSol’s working numbers (September 16, 2026) are:

Documents and hardware TECO expects
The checklist includes the correct tier agreement and battery agreement when applicable, manufacturer manuals, a manual visible load-break disconnect adjacent to the meter before inspection, a placard photo meeting TECO standards, and proof of local code inspection. TECO inspection, meter access, and the $37 fees
After receiving documents, TECO schedules an inspection. Provide 24-hour meter access: secure pets, unlock gates, or provide a gate code to NetMeters@tecoenergy.com.
- $37 if inspection cannot be completed, including lack of access or a failed inspection.
- $37 for each re-inspection.
- If TECO locks the disconnect, $37 for lock installation and $37 for removal.
